Abstract:

A new species of aquatic beetle is described, Phanocerus guaquira, which belongs to the Elimidae family and whose diagnostic characteristic is the shape of its pronotum, with grooves and depressions that separate them from the rest of the previously described species. The specimens were collected in litter patches in the Herrera II stream, Yaracuy state, using a device for collecting aquatic insects. Illustrations of the genitalia and other diagnostic characters are included.
